Workshops
The workshops, in association with the Young Shakespeare Company, are the perfect preparation for your theatre visit, enthusing the students in advance about the story and characters and giving them an appetite to hear Shakespeare's language in performance.
These workshops are intended to enhance and enrich the students' appreciation of the performance they are attending through a series of practical hands-on activities. In a lively and particpatory 90 minute session, the students will explore the process of putting on the play from the perspective of an actor or director, with the emphasis on choice and interpretation in the creative process. They will be encouraged to tap into the richness and complexity of Shakespeare's language by means of entertaining and informative acting exercises. They will also have the chance to explore the issues and contemporary resonance of the play through accessible role-play activities. The whole workshop aims to provide a stimulating introduction to the production as well as motivation for their further study of Shakespeare.
You can choose to have a workshop in your school between 9 June and 11 July in a hall space or before particular afternoon performances at the theatre. A teacher at the school must be present at all times as the person responsible for the students.
